Changing Careers Now and then, you may consider if you want to continue working as a prostitute in the near future. You may not like the business anymore or even work in this business against your will. You may make too little money in prostitution or find it difficult to combine this job with caring for your family. There are various reasons why you may want to change jobs. Is this my dream job? If you have been working in the same industry for some time, you tend to forget about your other qualities. The Changing Careers programme can support you in discovering and listing your talents and experience. Depending on your desires and possibilities, a counsellor will help you find another job, an internship or a training. You may also decide to continue working as a prostitute. Are you up to a career change? A new career is bound to be challenging. How do you know if you are ready to change jobs? There may be many reasons why you find it difficult to change jobs. You may have financial difficulties or negative experiences with authorities, you may doubt your qualities or lack shelter. We can help you find solutions for matters which stop you from starting a new career. You can also participate in training programmes to help you prepare for a different job. Changing Careers is there for: · assistance in money matters, education and work · choice of profession tests · application training · support groups · referral in case of addiction or mental problems · a buddy What ’s our procedure? Please sign up by telephone or email. A relief worker will contact you for an intake interview. If you already have a relief worker at Shop, she can sign you up. After the intake we will decide if Changing Careers is ‘your cup of tea’. Changing Careers will then discuss the obstacles and opportunities with regard to starting an education or a new career. Together, we will prepare a counselling plan. You can also take tests to find out what your capabilities or preferences are. We will then help you make choices and achieve your goal. Changing Careers cooperates with Social Affairs and Employment Services and Foundation De Haven. We also work with permanent contacts at employment agencies and rehabilitation programmes. Upon your request, your counsellor will accompany you when you meet authorities. How do we cope with privacy? Protection of your privacy is guaranteed at Shop. If we need to consult authorities we will - obviously - only do so with your consent. Where and when can you find us? We are available at Shop’s office from Monday through Friday from 09:00:00 till 17:00 hours. Every afternoon, from 13:00 till 17:00 hours, a relief worker is available on 070-3614747 to answer your questions immediately. If you do not speak Dutch or English, we will provide a reliable telephone interpreter.
